Are people in El Salvador stuck up? Is there a social barrier between rich, middle, and poor class people overthere? It seems that way. |

The difference between the incomes of the most wealthy and the poorest are extreme and increasing. The poorest 20% receive only 2% of the national income, whereas the richest 20% receive 66%. The distinction between the rich and poor has never been about race since virtually all of El Salvador's population is mixed Indian (Natives; Indigenous people) and white, which is called Mestizo.
There is no "middle" class really, just "well off" as i call it, and the "poor" constitute the largest percentage of the population. About half the population lives below the national poverty line, able to buy food but not clothing and medicine. Over half of these families live in a situation of extreme poverty.

Rich will be with the rich and the poor with the poor.

Im Salvadorean and no they are not. Its hard to see rich people over there because most of the population is poor. There is not much of a social class over there. When I was in El Salvador everyone were the same to me hard workers. I only saw a few rich people in the capital. |
