I've been to both many times and if you can do both it could be great!!! Start with Santiago, then go south to Puerto Montt (Puerto Varas and Frutillar are spectacular) then cross the lakes to Bariloche and afterwards fly to Buenos Aires. To me this is like the best route of the southern part of America. I love both countries (and I'm not chilean or argentinian!) and if you could combine both then you will have the full package.
