spanish in costa rica is better, they have one of the most neutral accent in latin america, besides they have lots of schools for foreing people, in general in costa rica diferent social classes are less defined than in mexico, and poor people have acces to education int he same way that midle class, so in general must of the people have an aceptable level of education, and you can share with anyone one good conversation, unlike mexico where poor people have worse life conditons and social classes are clearly separated, otherwise is such a nice place to visit also¡

Costa Rica is better, but I think you should take some more information from other sources.

Some websites give you free lessons which will help you on primary level.

Tamarindo is very popular this time of year due to the weather and great beaches. i was just there and saw many college aged students at the school. I went through Spanish Abroad. They are at www.spanishabroad.com They also have playa del carmen but I don't know much about that.

Go to Costa Rica ! It is so fantastic . You will find so many peop[le there to hang out with.

Neither. Although Playa del Carmen is extremely beautiful, it doesnt offer the best spanish schools in the areas. Same as Playa Tamarindo.
I recommend Antigua Guatemala in Guatemala. It has over 50 spanish schools in a small colonial and touristic city. Most of the students are between the ages of 18 and 25, and come from the US and european countries. Try to check it out...

Playa Tamarindo is well known for surfing and surfers. It is also one of the most beautiful beacehs of the world. Across the estuary is a sea turtle nesting ground where you can pay to take a tour and watch the turtles come up and lay their eggs.

Unless you're planning to do business in Mexico or with Mexican companies, I'd suggest Costa Rica.

1. Costa Rica doesn't have the drug/kidnapping problems Mexico has.
2. Mexicans speak with a Mexican accent, much different than most of Latin America. Costa Ricans generallly speak with less of an 'accent.'
3. You'll be close to Panama and can visit Panama City or other areas and see why so many people from North America and Europe are retiring to Central America.
