*Since Guatemala is smaller you can travel through the whole country is less time.
*Guatemala is cheaper than Mexico and you can buy a lot of the same things (name brands clothes mostly) you would in the US for 1/2 of the price in most cases
*The sights are prettier in Guatemala. Guatemala has lakes, rivers (drafting), tropical jungles, forest, volcanoes (hiking), mountians, waterfalls, a really awesome theme park (XETULUL). Peten where the mayan ruins are located is so beautifull that Frqncis Ford Copola built a eco friendly hotel there in the near a lake. It is beautifull.
*You can also find a lot of US citizens in Guatemala
*The beaches are 1000 times better in Mexico but the beer and the food is better in Guatemala
