It's pretty much unanimous - go to Antigua. Learning Spanish will be a great tool to success later in life, especially with the growing Latino population in America. Also, the Spanish ruins in Antigua will give you another historical perspective that can't be found anywhere else.
I do mission work each year in Honduras and have lived in Guate ten years during my early life. Seeing how people live in the Third World opens your mind to how rich a life you really have. Good luck with your mission work. |

Go to Antigua! There's a reason it's been designated a World Heritage site. It's beautiful, fun, safe and a great place to learn Spanish. It's totally unlike Guatemala City. Do it; you'll be glad you did (I was there in 2000 to learn Spanish and look back on my month there as one of the best times of my life). |
