Stopover in Lima?

I have an 11 hour stop over at the Lima airport and fly out at 1am in the morning. Is there anything I can do in that time that doesn't involve sticking around at the airport?

Yes, of course; you can do almost anything that you want that you can do in any large metropolitan city.

Just allow plenty of time to return to the airport and remember that most of the major flights leave late so the lines are really long at midnight *and* don't forget the international departure tax is about $31 in cash.

I would recommend a museum and a nice dinner. Museums are of high quality and the private Museo Larco is very cool. Cathedrals and other sight seeing standards are generally available (not always on Sunday?).

The city tour is not a bad idea if that's your thing, just be careful to get an official driver who speaks at least some English; the cost of driving around should be about S/30 per hour (about$10/hour). [I can't vouch for the 'Green' taxis but their drivers are allowed in side the airport].

Miraflores is fine [some call it a bit sterile - so?] but it is 35 - 45 minutes from the airport; Callao is closer.

Good luck, have fun.

You could go to one of the casino's in Lima but you would need to watch your time so you don't miss your plane

Jump in a cab, and take a tour of the city. Get something to eat, shop a little, and sit outside and people watch!

yes, take a cab and go to Miraflores. There are nice restaurants and casinos there.

You can go to LarcoMar mall by the beach. Or museum, bars? mm I dont know what u like, it all depends ...good luck. Too bad u won't see Machupichu.

11hours is a long time, you may want to check into a hotel in Miraflores (some aren't expensive) and visit some parts of the city to make the best of it. There is now a hotel in the airport as well but I do not know the rates.
