To British folk?

Will the smoking ban upruit your life and also will paying for the toll bridge's burn a hole in your pocket?

Because it happened in Ireland.
Also do you have to pay for air to pump up your car or bicycle wheels becase we do.

You forgot to say where the "we" are from - and it's no good saying Venezuela because you posted another totally unrelated question in that category earlier as well!

Eventually - because - when the whole of the UK has the ban - & with Scotland introducing a crazy over 18's Law to buy cigarettes Where is the all the extra Tax going to come from..?

in a garge it's 20p air/water i think.

about the smoking ban, i am a smoker and i dont know what right they have telling landlords to ban smoking in their pubs. the only reason i am pleased about the ban is because people wont be blowing their smoke in my face in a restaurant. there is nothing worse than inhaling second hand smoke.

crazyeyes
i don't smoke so no it won't burn a hole in my pocket, and we have foot pumps to pump up tyres, which is a one off payment for the equipment and then using your foot to pump

With the air in bikes and cars it's usually free but I have paid 20p for it in the past. It really depends which garage you go do.

I don't go over any bridges at the moment that I have to pay a toll for. If you mean the Severn Bridge then I go through Monmouth so I get around it that way.

I don't smoke so the ban won't affect me but I do think it's a good idea to ban smoking in eating places.

I'm from Scotland ,the smoking ban is already here and it sucks, having to stand outside in the cold is awful!never mind as long as the nonsmokers are happy!funny thing the beer gardens with heaters are busier than the actual bars and the nonsmokers sit outside for the atmosphere(stupid or what)

oh...dear.... he just doesn't get the Brittish attitude.....

We just drive our cars and when our tyres run out of air we call the AA man (or RAC)

There's nothing like a Pimms on the Hard shoulder of the A303 on a friday afternoon..

and as far as the toll bridges are concerned, a knowing wink at the toll controller gets you through everytime if you know the right people.

I can't see any disadvantages in the smoking ban whatsoever. I can't wait to go out without getting a bad chest and stinging eyes, and not going home stinking!! And as for the air, some garages charge about 20pence but some provide it free.

The smoking ban will have a positive effect on my life. I choose not to smoke because of the health risks. I want to enjoy a long and healthy life. Therefore I don't see why I should be subjected to the smoke of others which is proven to be harmful to my health - even passively. I sympathise with smokers - they should have the choice and the chance to smoke - but other people's health should not be put at risk as a result.

In terms of tolls on bridges and roads, whilst it does annoy me and it is a drain on my already meagre finances I do wonder what alternative the government have. After years of chronic under investment in our transport system - be it on the roads or on public transport: trains, buses etc - money has to be found from somewhere to pay for maintenance and modernisation etc. Would people prefer higher taxes rather than what might be termed a "pay-as-you-go" system?

I can't wait for the smoking ban! No more getting up in the morning and stinking of an ashtray!!
Not bothered about the toll bridges and paying for air to pump your tires is at some garages but not all.

Im a smoker and i think the ban will make it easyer to quit and will generally make us a healther nation.
For Non-Smokers its not really fair that they have to breath all our smoke and risk getting diseases just cos they want a pint down the local.

so its all good for them.

Pumps are free at the garage near me and i think the places that do charge do it so kids are less likely to mess about with them.

Finally i dont live near any toll bridges so that one does not affect me.

Gizmo
Smoking ban excellant yip were still paying bridge tolls but not for air at garages. From Scottish perspective, still British???

There is a smoking ban where I am. I smoke and I am very happy with the ban. Much less smoke is better for clothes and I am sure the hangover from a night out is less. When I smoke I just go outside. Its a bit 5hitty for restaurants though but it wont kill me.
