ECUADOR -
La Mitad del Mundo - A city with a "museum" on the equator where you can balance an egg on the tip of a nail and see water flush both ways down a sink depending on which side of the equator you are on.
Misahualli - Cheap city to leave for Amazon jungle trips

PERU
Iquitos - Only reachable by air. Jungle town with Amazon tours.
Guayaquil - Parque de las Iguanas - Hundreds of iguanas hang out in a public park and even will come up and crawl all over you.
Huacachina - Beautiful oasis in the middle of miles and miles of sand dunes. http://www.reisreporter.be/wp-content/up...
Nasca Lines - Lines making pictures in the ground only visible by air making it not that cheap. I paid 25 dollars for the flight to see them. one example - - - http://anthropologynet.files.wordpress.c...

BOLIVIA
Lake Titicaca - Well known very pretty lake with Uros people and their man made floating islands --- http://img2.travelblog.org/Photos/23432/...
Uyuni Salt Flats - Salt, salt and more salt. Price depends on how many days. I spent 45 dollars for a 2.5 day trip --- http://darren-aaron.smugmug.com/photos/8...
La Paz - A neat capital and one of the highest in the world. Here you can also ski the highest skiable mountain in the world.

ARGENTINA - Everything is cheap. Absolutely everything. Lots of very interesting areas around Buenos Aires. Can't remember very many, Boca and Tigres to name 2.

URUGUAY
Las Valisas - A little town on the beach. There are many little town like this along the beach. These places don't have (or at least didn't have when I was there) electricity making them inxpensive. I camped on the beach in the sand while there.
Punta del Este - Beach town. Not cheap but very pretty and and hip.

CHILE
Don't remember too much about Chile except for that I didn't stay long because it was quite expensive. A very pretty and very organized country though.

Any questions feel free to write me. I'd love to reminisce!

You would surely want to put Cotopoxi, Ecuador on your list. Elevation 5897 meters and there are excellent hikes in the high mountains just outside the town of Papallata, Ecuador. You can your taxi driver drop you off at one of the trail heads and pick you up at anthor about 12 miles away. But dress warm.

Argentina is the best. You can do a week all inclusive with www.IGoBuenosAires.com for less than $650.
Also, if you are arriving from the US you will probably start there anyway so you should take full advantage of it.
Make sure to see the not-so-known things (besides San Telmo, Boca, Palermo).
Steak and wine for $15 anyone? YES!!

Soccer matches are awesome. But, also, remember that soccer stops in January (not sure exactly what your travel month is) so you may not get to see a pro games during that period anywhere.
