Travel Ideas for Costa Rica?

I am planning a trip to Costa Rica for a month in Aug. I was wondering if you know of any good travel ideas or places to go while there. I am into the wildness, hiking, scuba... things like that. What do you all think?

Costa Rica for a month? Now you are making me jealous.
Costa Rica has a lot of things to offer. Three of my favorite places in Costa Rica are:
Tortuguero, Volcan Arenal and Monteverde.

Getting to Tortugeuro was a hike a few years back, but it is worth the effort. The only way to get there is by a boat. The beaches and rain forest around Tortugero are beautiful.
Do make it a point to go to Arenal and Poas valcanos and if you have the luxury, do spend some time hiking around the Arenal volcano.
If you are planning on renting a car, get a 4x4 or an rugged SUV. Also, do NOT estimate your driving times based on driving in other countries. It takes significantly longer in Costa Rica.

Hope you have fun.

some sites to definitely see:
1. arenal volcano &the surrounding hot springs..there are some great cheap resorts at the base of the volcano
2. manuel antonio national park...the hotels are within walking distance and are literally right on the beach
3. alajeula...a beautiful little town
4. the pacuare river...the white river rafting on it is fantastic, and there are camps set up along the river if you dont want to do a one day trip

definitley do some scuba diving at manuel antonio, if you like ziplining do it around arenal...there are great hikes anywhere in the jungle...if you also like atv's &or horseback riding i would recommend arenal.
good luck with your trip &&pura vida!

Take a look at "Dolphin Quest" web site. They offer kayaking, scuba, fishing, horseback riding, hiking, rustic cabinas and a general good time.

Probably your best bet would be to visit Quepos on the Pacific side of CR.

Its a little fishing village of about 4,000 souls which is in the center of all of the Tourist Attractions and Tours as well as next to the World famous and most noted Manuel Antonio Nature Park/Beach.

Its 29 minutes away from San Jose by Sansa Air which costs you $118.00 to fly both ways.

They have a First Class Hotel there called Hotel Kamuk (a member of the Great Western chain) that is very modern with a swimming pool and which has all of the amenities you could possibly ask for or want - at only $50.00 per night!

I will be there the last week in June again!

Have a good Trip!

The folks at this site will provide you with a lot of information. Have them call you and ask them to mail it to you.

They also have wonderful beach front land at unbelievable prices. You don't need to buy anything, just let them provide you with details.

Hope this helps.

The best place to go is the central pacific area, it's the closest coastline to the central valley and you have a little bit of everything. Another thing to take into consideration is your budget and who all is traveling with you. Here's a link you can get some info on the Los Suenos Resort and Marina.
