Yes you can, Cartagena, Santa Marta and Barranquilla are three ports on the Caribbean side, you can probably go along the coast of Central america, an interesting stop is the islands of San Blas in Panama which have real indians living on them and love to sell stuff to tourists.
The panama Canal is very nice also as well as Tortuguero and Puerto Viejo in Costa Rica.

Tecnically yes, since Colombia has a coast. But... why not take a plane? I have no knowledge of any boats going from US to Colombia, unless you are taking your own boat, in which case I totally recommend Cartagena!!!

I would not recomend going to colombia Ecuador for sure....it is a wonderful place to go, it has a lot of places to visit, the people are so nice and helpful, and they try to make you feel at home, and there is a lot of beautiful places to visit, and the night life, the place to party are so beautiful not only the quality of the places but the people that go there too........the beaches are clean beautiful and surrounded by hot people the culture is amazing and so diverse that you wont get tired of it......and for sure is a lot safer and more beautiful that Honduras or Peru, it is a wonderful place to live too and is warm and nice all the time.
please listen to me I am sure you are going to love it. and I ma sure your family will too, because not only you will have fun butt you will be sure that no one is going to kidnap you or steal something from you. Ecuador is absolutely fantastic. It has a little bit of everything all in one country; beautiful beaches, amazing mountains and the Amazon jungle. I've traveled there 3 times now, all alone and as a female, so I can tell you its definitely safe. Everything is pretty cheap, including airfare there. The people are friendly, the food is good, and weather is pretty much amazing.
