Traveling from San Jose Costa Rica to San Isidro del General?

Does anyone have detailed directions for this route? I can't help but get lost in and out of San Jose every time i travel there.

The road is called the Interamerican Highway...From San José Downtown you take east to Cartago City, passing by San Pedro and Curridabat. On the entrance of Cartago, instead of taking the road that takes to the city you just go the other way. Once you get on the road there are no turning points. At the end of Cerro de la Muerte is San Isidro del General...

What.... you cant navigate a huge city without a single street sign?

I get lost in San Jose every time I am there too... and my Spanish sucks.

Oh well. Good luck! :)

Follow Avenida Central past the San Pedro Mall, keep on Avenida Central and it turns into the highway to Cartago. Watch for the signs on the edge of Cartago.

If you are coming from Central San Jose, Avenida 1 is a pedestrian mall so you have to take the one way Avenida 2 until it joins Avenida Central (where the 2 way traffic begins).

If you are coming from the airport after you pass much of the park, you must turn left onto Paseo Colon (the extension of Avenida 1 on that side of town). You will have to be in the right hand lane because at some point you will have to go right 1 block to hit Avenida 2.

ask the locals for directions or get a driver or something. i think once you get out of san jose there are one or two roads. its a pretty long drive though. when you're in san isidro, go to pejibaye (like 45 minutes away by bus) and go up to the barrio nuevo community center. check it out
