Traveling in Latin America for senior trip. . ?

I'm thinking of going on a trip with a bunch of my friends to Latin America during the summer. We'll all be seniors done with high school, so approximately 18 years old. Do you think it's safe for us all to travel without adult supervision in Latin America? And if so, which countries would you recommend visiting?

Any country is dangerous if you are not careful. Latin America has some safe and some unsafe countries. Amongst the safe countries are Chile, Argentina, Peru. Personally I wouldn't go to Mexico City as it is now one of the most dangerous and over populated cities in Latin America. And Cancun is highly overated.
You can try beginning your trip in Peru (going to Cuzco and Machu Pichu of course)! then going down to Chile and the southern lakes, cross to Argentina via Bariloche and then go to Buenos Aires. From there go to the Iguazu falls and cross to Brazil. Ending the trip in Rio would be like the icing on the cake!
But if you are all friends and you are travelling together, you are bound to have fun wherever you go!

mexico. brazil. costa rica. chile.

unsafe but in a big group should be no problem :)

Two Countries:

ARGENTINA and CHILE. The most civilised countries in the region, and by far the most europeans. Great food, modern and cosmopolitan cities and plenty of cultural activities.
Breathtaking landscapes, deserts, jungle, lakes, ski resorts, glaciers, beaches...everything!!!

I was there two years ago, and I couldn't believe it!!! This is Latin America??

Peru is a good place to go.
There are a lot of places you can visit.
You can visit Macchu Picchu, the Nazca Lines, spend a few days in the beaches of the north. Or take a trip to the peruvian jungle. You can find cool tours for groups.
Also the peruvian food is excellent.

Good Luck. :)

I think it would be safer to join a tour group.
Yes, pickpocketers are around in these countries. Also other safety problems. If you're so young , you might fall prey to wily people. People generally think young people have not had enough experience in life and they'd try to "fool " you.
I would not take the risk. You are there to enjoy a good vacation and NOT be a target for robbery, kidnap or rape or any of these horiffic stuff! Please be careful and think it through.

Any beach is bound to be nice. I have been to a beach in Mexico and it's soooooo beautiful. I also went to El Salvador.

Have fun!!!

DO NOT become vulnerable like Natalee Holloway You must try to watch your back. Especially if you are a girl. Please use common sense. I do not want to scare you away from the trip. But yes some of you do need to have supervision were it be in Jersey or Brazil
