ok. i have planned to go chile for a few months now. my boyfriend, the foreign exchange student, lives there. i would be staying with his family. i am learning some spanish now, so i will be able to understand some spanish. so i have two questions for you to answer:
1. Would u let me go? i will be traveling alone at age seventeen. is Chile a safe country? will i be able to handle the plane ride? are the airports a hassle?
2. How do i ask them? this is a very fragile subject. it has to be handled very carefully! any ideas? i only have one chance 2 ask and make a good impression to my parents......
Please i need your help! i want this all to work will as little problems as possible!
Additional Details
* i will only be staying there a few weeks, over my winter break, so i wont be missing school, only a few days. and my boyfriend speaks very good english. i will also be able to communicate in spanish, but if i needed help he could translate for me. so i wont be completely lost. i am going to be very safe. always under a parents watch. also in a few days i will be traveling to france and spain so i will have some experience with international airports, but not alone.

I was born in Chile, but I have lived most of my life here.... Chile is a safe place to go and if I was your mother I would let you go, especially since you will be with people you know! I will let my daughter go in the near future, since she wants to learn the language and see the country her mother is from! Chile is beautiful and you won't have any problem there! Best of luck it will be a great learning experience for you:-) |

While the trip would have tremendous educationall value, there is no way I would let my daughter go at 17. How about asking your mother to go with you? |

chances are NOT. Anyways Chile is a good place. We have some bad neighborhoods, but you can avoid them easily. If your boyfriend is chilean, you will have no trouble at all with the country. Engluish is not as common as in other places, but you won't have trouble finding some english speaker if you need it. Guess your better move would be searching info of the country on good information sources with hard numbers, like travel magazines, "best places to live" reports and so... we are very well positioned on that rankings, usually top 2 on south america and sometimes higher than a lot of 1st world european countries |
