Venezuela and Dancing? |
I'm going to be living in Venezuela for a year and I love to dance. I am a ballroom dancer and a belly dancer along with traditional training in ballet, jazz, tap, and modern. I love to go out dancing to reggaeton, salsa, merengue, kumbia, and my all time favorite is bachata. I was wondering if anybody knew if Venezuela has ballroom dancing class, bellly dancing classes, and I know that salsa and samba are big there, do they play bachata in the clubs at all too?
P.S. if you're answers are to include anything about the Venezuela government or opposing opinions of someone going to live there, please keep it to yourself, I am asking about knowledge of dance in the country not your opinion of government or living safety.

Yes, Venezuela has a big range of options for people who like to dance (like most Carribbean countries). Belly dancing is quite popular, however, I dont know about jazz. Salsa is definetely very popular and so is Reggaeton. About the classes, I dont think that finding them will be a problem, beleive me, you can find them without looking. About the ballroom, it depends on what style of "ballrooms" you like and what sort of music you want to dance, but for Salsa the most known and liked amongst local Venezuelans in Caracas is "El Mani Es Asi", for Reggaeton and less traditional styles of Music you can find them, just like in Europe and the US, almost in every modern disco (There's a huge concentration of those in a zone of Caracas called Las Mercedes). However, this is assuming that you will be going to Caracas and not somewhere else. |

Of course! i live in vzla, here in maracaibo there's a place called Baila como Juana (hahahah weird name, i know) that teaches every single type of music.
By the way, you shouldn't come here, this place sucks, there's no milk, butter, cereal, sugar and it's awful xD i want to go to the US but i'm 13, i can't go by myself :! |

oh for sure you'll be able to take dancing classes of all sorts. hey, you might even be able to learn some of the traditional dances that are fun too (i mainly like waving the skirt around and stamping hehe). the music at clubs depends on the ones you go to. if you go to the more americanized ones you'll hear the more modern music, reggaeton and similar stuff but if you head to the more common ones you'll get a variety of salsa, merengue, samba, bachatas, pop. i remember going to one that had spanish pop music, then salsa, then some fun old school rock and roll then samba etc all varied but crazy fun and upbeat. it was this overlooked club (because it was next to senor frogs) but easily the most fun i've had. youre going to have a great time in ven, even more so if you love dancing :) |
