We are going to Costa Rica the week of Thanksgiving. What clothing, etc would you recommend we bring? |
We are first going to the Monte Verde rain forest area, followed by the volcano, Arenal, and last to the beach at Manuel Antonio State Park.
All recommendations and information are welcome!!! |

I receommend you bring a couple of pairs of shorts, a couple of pairs of jeans, comfortable t-shirts with at least one zip up sweatshirt, bathing suit and rain gear. I usually end up wearing long pants / jeans in the evening or early morning - sometimes it can get chilly.
Also, a good pair of hiking boots will do you well. Along with extra socks.
Keep your packs simple and don't over pack. Don't forget your camera!
Monteverde is fantanstic! Be sure to do the suspension bridges and zip lining. I like the zip lining here more than I do the one in Manual Antonio - but the one there is good also.
Arenal - be sure to do a night tour. They don't actually do the hiking after dark but they finish up around dusk and then drive you around to were you get get the best view of the volcano as it erupts. We did a deal that also included a couple of hours at the hot springs afterwards - no better way to soak those sore muscles :)
Manual Antonio is sooooo beautiful. Beyond words beautiful. Be sure to take a guided hike here also. Much of what made the park fantastic was knowing where to look to find things. We would have missed so much! Also, they have some poisonous fauna in M.A. - you will definately want to now what it looks like. Our guide told us it was 10x worse than poison ivy. |

lots of old cranky white people in costa rica, so you have to wear more clothes than you should. go to panama if you want to have fun. but, knowing you, you will have fun anywhere. oh, it's colder now than you think, lol, it's probably the same temp as here in AZ.. |

definitely some rain coats, good hiking shoes(no need for those ugly rubber boots), at least a couple of jeans, 3 -4 more pair of socks that you expected, some warm clothes, arenal and Monteverde can get chilly.
for the beach you need flip flops, 3 or 4 comfortable shirts, a couple of swimsuits and Manuel Antonio has some good nightlife so you might consider some party clothes.
if you want more information on clothing, packing etc, check out the FAQ section at My Costa Rica |
