Capitalism, why?

Modern radical socialism. President Hugo Chavez believes in a market-driven economy with considerable attention to distribution of wealth and support of the poor and working classes as well as independence from conglomerate control and foreign exploitation of natural resources.

His ability to implement his economic and political plans are somewhat hindered by an entrenched privileged class and some destabilsation by the CIA and corporate interests. There was even a short-lived coup when he left the country a couple of years ago.

On the other hand, his policies are seen by some within his own country as being restrictive of both free trade and personal freedoms.
