What's the Guatemalan culture like?

hi,
i would like to know how do guatemalan minds "work"? can i compare them to southern european countries such as italy and spain or is the mentality completely different? im asking becoz i have a boyfriend from there and most of the time i just cannot tell how he feels. is he stressed? is he happy? is he sad? is he jealous? sometimes he is angry as helL but i cannot see this is his face. he hides it as best as he can. i only find out if he is so angry he cannot hold back any more or if he tells me. he rearely shouts or something like this.. is this a matter of culture??
