The second largest lake in Latin America is Lake Nicaragua, in Nicaragua, is also known as Lago Cocibolca, and is only just slightly smaller than Lake Titicaca. Were you refering to this lake? It's really not as bad as the name you used to refer to it suggests. Actually it is very beautiful and quite the ecological wonder. I have seen it, I took a trip across the lake to the island of Ometepe in 1995. I spent the night on the island and returned the next day. I enjoyed the trip very much.

In order to appreciate the unique sights, ecological diversity and varied scenery of this lake you have to see it to believe it! Or, one may research it on the web. You have got to take a look at this web site:

P.S.
Lake Titicaca is not the second but the LARGEST lake in Latin America. Please see the following quote from Wikipedia and at the link listed below:

From Wikipedia "Lake Titicaca is the highest commercially navigable lake in the world [1], at 3821 m (12,536 feet) above sea level. It is also South America's largest freshwater lake, with a surface area of approximately 8300 square kilometres."
