What about a muslim south america?

i wonder how receptive the largely catholic population of south America would be to the Muslim faith. for 500 years or so the catholic church has owned south America and done nothing for the poor. if Muslims come in with the new ideas, including anti American and Europe policies it may be interesting to see what happens. yep we need a Muslim nation in SA. Venezuela would be a good start.

i see that the catholic church is doing a good work in many ways now. but thier history is not one of camapasion over the centuries. i mentioned my concerns partly because i see that we have alienated so many ethnic groups over the world openning the door for non christians to step in. i think as did our lord and savior when he started to accept gentiles. the muslim faith is the fastest growing belif in the world and for that to happen some other must be failing thier believers. my beliefs are new testement not old as such i am not drawn to the muslim or jewish, these brothers bothe worship violence from the days of abraham. and apeal to those who have nothing to lose.i will not and should not condemn them if they fill a need.

1. The Catholic Church does not own South America.

2 You really need to back up your claim that the Catholic Church has done nothing for the poor in South America for 500 years.

One example, Caritas Venezuela works with poor and marginalized people in 13 dioceses, asserting their rights to a life of dignity, enhancing capacities, promoting justice and combating the causes of poverty. http://www.caritas.org/worldmap/latin_america/venezuela.html
http://www.caritas.org.ve/

In addition, the Catholic Church seeks and supports the freedom of religion for all human beings. In the Vatican II document, Declaration on Religious Freedom, Dignitatis Humanae (Human Dignity), the Church states:

The human person has a right to religious freedom. This freedom means that all men are to be immune from coercion on the part of individuals or of social groups and of any human power, in such wise that no one is to be forced to act in a manner contrary to his own beliefs, whether privately or publicly, whether alone or in association with others, within due limits.

For the entire document, see: http://www.vatican.va/archive/hist_councils/ii_vatican_council/documents/vat-ii_decl_19651207_dignitatis-humanae_en.html

With love in Christ.

There are many Muslims in Central and South America now. Thankfully the majority of them, unlike yourself, prefer to live and let live. Would you like to illustrate to us how the "poor" have fared in the Muslim countries in the past and present centuries?

Wonderboy
There is already many Muslims here in Colombia. If you go to our Northern Coasts you will find many Asians who are Muslims. The name Omar is not a South American name, yet I have 2 good friends with that name both from asian backgrounds, both who are muslims.

If you were to put Muslims in Venezuela with those ideas they would most probably be treated very well by chavez. However I would like to point out that the Muslims that are already here accept that this is Catholic land the same way we accept them for being Muslim. Just because our religions are different it does not cause a problem. So you already have a muslim Presence here.

Although by what you have written it sounds to me like you just want to upset the balance, but I hope I am wrong.

thanks but no thanks. Muslims are crazy, those countries have no women rights, civil rights, etc, they don't separate church and state and they go by the Qoran all the time. The Qoran teaches to stoned women, cut off people's hands, etc.

I can't even imagine what you do to animals. Christians aren't perfect with animals either but If I have to choose, I prefer Christianity, at least Jesus loves people and animals, the problem is with some hypocrites who call themselves Christians but are really not, at least, not their evil deeds and lack of compassion.

Anyways, I have spoken with many Muslims and they do not reason, they just go by the book, if the book say 'stone her" then they do.

That is too dangerous, keep your Islam out of SA. SA is made of a group of progressive societies.
