To start with: Potatoes, Lima Beans and Quinine (the medicine used to treat malaria).
Also, although many don't know it, many English words came from the Peruvian Andes.
For example, did you know that the word "jerky" as in "beef jerky" comes from Quechua? Jerky as a mispronunciation of the Quechua word "charky" which, in Quechua, means "dried meat". The word "poncho" is also Quechua an it describes a woolen clothing accessory the Incas wore very similar to the current "rain ponchos" you see today, except without the hood.
Also the words condor, puma, guano, llama. |

Well, there cannot be only three things originated from Peru. Preu has a variety of things. First, Ceviche is exiquisite. when you finish eating your Ceviche you have to drink la leche de tigre( the juice of the ceviche is known as Tiger's milk.). there are several things: Maca, Arroz con Leche( Rice with milk) -- Exquisite!! , Mazamorra, Turrones ( You must taste them.) Rachi, Anticuchos, Pisco Sour, Carapulcra, Papa a la huancaina and of course Cristal's beer. If I still listing all the things, I will never end. |
