What are fun things to do in Monteverde, Costa Rica? |
I am going to Costa Rica and my friend wanted to know what I wanted to do in Monteverde (she lives in Costa Rica this year) so any ideas and suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks a bunch! |

Although Monteverde is a small place there is a lot to do. There are two excellent reserves full of wildlife, there are wonderful ziplines, two insect and butterfly museums and reptile garden and frog pond. There are several excellent restaurants. Morphos for burgers, Johnnies for excellent pizza, De Lucia for excellent beef, el Marquez for seafood. There is an excellent vegetarian restaurant near Johnnies. Moon Shiva and the bar at El Sapo Dorado often have live music and there is a local band at Bar Amigos on Friday night. The Monteverde Insitute has a lecture series and there is a farmer's market on Friday. Shortly there will be the rodeo and bull fight in Cerro Plano. So, for a town of 3500-4000 people there is a lots of things to do. Did I mention several excellent art galleries? Think of a Central American version of Estes Park Colorado. |

Go to the Sky Trek canopy tour in the cloud forest and go to the serpent zoo to see a lot of different Costa Rican reptiles, go to a bar called Amigos Bar, eat some pizza, check out the forest night tour, its a lot better if you go with a rented car. |

I was in Monteverde last week. My great grandparents, great uncle, and aunt used to live there. We hiked in the reserve which was beautiful. We also did the Salvatura Canopy Tour which so much fun and a great way to see the rainforest. There is also a frog museum nearby which has a lot of frogs that you can only find in Costa Rica. Its good to get a guide for that because they explain so much about each species. I also heard about a butterfly exhibit somewhere near Monteverde that I heard was good. Have fun! |

There is a lot to do in Costa Rica including Monteverde , as you already know the frog museum, you can go hiking, swimming, do the tours, canopy , enjoy the scenery etc.
