What's your project? It would help if you could specify- what grade are you in, are you writing about geography, or the people or the history?

Here's some stuff to look up, though:
the gauchos, the pampas, the ñandú, dulce de leche, beef production, peronist politics,Che Guevarra, tango and mate

The country has a really cool history- the overabundance of beef has given them an interesting market- steak and leather are cheap, while vegetables can be pricey. The cows were introduced to the country by the first Spanish settlers trying to establish Buenos Aires (now the capitol city) but the colony failed, some say Indians killed them, some say they starved, but the cows wandered away into the pampas when the settlers died, and a decade or so later when the Spanish returned to try again, there were so many cows roaming around free that beef is still a major export today. The gauchos are/were cowboys and wore ponchos that were color-coded according to the region where they lived, and according to the story, the country had a little trouble overcoming regionalism until Gen. San Martín led an army of them over the Andes during his campaign for Argentine independance. The legend goes that when the men were freezing in the mountains, he provided wool ponchos that were sky blue and white (the national colors) as opposed to the colors of their region, which helped not only unify the army, but the country as well.

Well, maybe that will help you for a start- hope it's all useful!

I recently went on a study abroad trip and was there for a week visiting several different businesses and learned some really cool stuff.

The one I would tell you to look up is the Argentina "Dirty War". It's a very interesting part of their history when the militarian government was supposedly involved in kidnappings and things of anyone who opposed them. I'm not sure of all the details but it wasn't that long ago... in the 70's and 80's I believe.

It's still not known exactly what happened to many of the people that went missing... These people are known as "los desaparecidos" or "the disappeared."
