In order of importance:

1.- Callejon de Huaylas. Beautiful and narrow valley between 2 mountain ridges. to the east snow top mountains (14) the highest ones in Peru, to the west a smaller mountain ridge and on top you can find the weirdest plant from the pineapple family, the PUYA RAIMONDI, the stem rises up to 40 feet tall and it lives for more than a hundred years until it blooms once and subsequently dies. main city: HUARAZ main ruins: CHAVIN DE HUANTAR

2.- Colca Canyon. A deep canyon formed by the river of the same name, carving a pathway in between two mountains next to each other, at one point (Condor Cross) the river is 1.2 Km below the road and in front of you is the other mountain at a scarce distance (maybe 200 yards) this is the place you can observe the great Condor flying around you. Main city: CHIVAY No important ruins but great landscapes and the chance to see small towns that were isolated from civilization for centuries.

3.- Manu National Reserve. High jungle near Cuzco 100% wildlife and adventure. Main City: Puerto Maldonado.

4.- Amazon river and surroundings. This jungle is different from Manu and although 90% of the Amazon river runs trough out Brazil, it begins in Peru. Main City: Iquitos

5.- Paracas National Reserve. This is a coastal desert full of marine wildlife. Main City: Ica Main Ruins: Paracas, Nazca Lines.

6.- Cajamarca. One of the most beautiful places in the highlands, also has a lot of forest making it easier from high altitude sickness, Main City: Cajamarca. Places to go: Cumbemayo, Forest of Porcon Main ruins: this is where the last Inka (Atahualpa) was taken prisioner and excecuted, The randsome room, The Inka hot springs bath, the windows of Otusco (cementery), the Inka chair on top of the Santa Apolonia Hill

HuaynaPicchu is an outstanding site is behind the citadel of Machu Picchu. Other sites in Peru like Puerto Maldonado a jungle rain forest, The highest navigable lake of the world at Titicaca in between of Peru and Bolivia and the astronomy of the Nazca Lines are quite interesting.

Well, you have the Amazon Rainforest and the Andes Mountains. Then some more basic sites are:

Sacred Valley
Colca Canyon
Ulyamtambo - very beautiful Inca Ruin
Pisac Market
hiking the Inca Trail
Lake Titicaca

All are worth seeing
