1.) Eat iguanas as someone previously stated.

2.) Eat armadillios as well, it's called cusuco.

3.) In Nejapa there is an annual tradition of throwing fire balls at each other, follow the link.

4.) In El Salvador it's either hot and sunny, or hot and rainy. That's it.

5.) Only Central American country that doesn't reach the Atlantic Ocean, so only beaches in the Pacific Ocean meaning warm waters and great places to surf like in La Libertad.

6.) It is smaller than the US state of Massachusetts.

7.) 14 states called departamentos, and 10 volcanoes.

There are more El Salvadorians in Houston than there are El Salvadorians in El Salvador.

Mr. Bigglesworth
1) Iguanas make a great dish! Typically in San Miguel. I ate Iguana when I was a kid and liked it... but I wouldn't eat them now, first because it's a bit unusual (but believe me, their meat was fabulous! Tasted like turkey/crab, very little fat), and second because it's a beautiful animal and a very exotic one!

2) Babies typically wear some weird stuff on their wrist, like a bracelet. I think it's some sort of seed (marañon seed?) and it prevents the "mal de ojo".... which is a superstitious belief. It will prevent any 'bad eyes'/looks/bad wishes from anyone... I think! That is very weird! I never quite understood that crap! he

3) As a kid, you will typically be told NOT TO LOOK at a dog while he's peeing or taking a dump. Why? Well, because you may get a pink eye! hahaha! I never understood that one either, but I do believe it may have had something to do with, perhaps, an indigenous person looking at a dog while peeing from a close distance while the wind may have blown some sort of bacteria into his/her eye.... that's the most logical origin/explanation I can think of!

4) If someone has tapeworms, they should squat while at the same time having a large bowl/container of milk at the bottom. I do not think the person must take a ****, but as far as I remember someone saying or hearing, the tape worm will come out through the ***. hehe! Gross! I have no idea if this is true or what, but never heard of anyone doing it... but hear someone saying it once.

5) Last believe/unusual fact.... a lot of STUPID people think that the guerrillas, during the civil war, killed Monseñor Romero as well as the Jesuits (in 1989... who were staying in a residence just a few feet away from a military base! Wow... those guerrillas must have been ninjas!) Lots of idiots also believe the soldiers were fighting the guerrillas for the good of the country! Roberto D'Aubuissonis thought (by some) as a saint, a savior, who had nothing to do with Death Squads in the 70's and 80's These beliefs were mostly backed up by the media... similarly to the way most US people were brainwashed to believe there were Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq... and simlar to the way most in the US believe that Cuba is the worst and evil communist country in the world... even though China is a bigger threat to the US... but hey, China is good for busine$$. And so is Vietnam! :-)

To sum it all up, this is a crazy, crazy world!

I hope this helps.

Mister-E
Oh you want good ones huh? i got some

Theres a Ghost in El Salvador called La Siguanaba. Well theres a lot of ghosts in el salvador.
We have El Cipitio (la Siguanabas son)
El Duende(a) (he/she falls in love with attractive people and stalk them all day and annoy you really bad but only YOU can see that midget, nobody else.)
El Cadejo (theres a good one and a bad one i think, im not sure, its basically a black or a white animal that appears to you, one means you're going to be ok and one means something bad is going to happen)
La Careta Chillona (Old as Carriage with squeaky wheels that makes you crazy if you hear it then come outside to see what it is, it comes out late at night when people are sleeping)
El Griton (its a guy that comes out and YELLS really loud like if somebody is killing him. I had a cousin that said that she heard el Griton before, that it sounded like he was right outside of the house screaming.)
La Mano Peluda (this is a myth in many countries too, not just el salvador. If you go to sleep in a hammock, la mano peluda starts to swing you really hard until you fall and you become crazy.Something like that)
