Living in Medellin, Colombia at the moment as a Norwegian the food is very different. Colombians eat a lot of plantains, yucca, rice and potatoes and a type of corn bread called arepa that typically accompanies every meal.

Someone else gave you a good summary but one of my favorites is chicken Tamale which is chicken, potatoes, carrot etc, covered by corn dough that is steamed inside a palm leaf wrapping. Truly delicious!

You can watch a video of a woman preparing food in the video section on the following website:

Mmmm... I'm Colombian and Colombian food has Colombian name...

Sancocho, ajiaco, arepa, mazamorra, mondongo, morcilla, chunchurria, chorizo, butifarra, chicharrĂ³n...

Got it? I don't think so... But, like mexicans, we love beans!!!!

To include with above when i was there i ate with a Colombian family and helped an orphanage cook meals.....one thing i found interesting is that they had fried bananas (pretty good) and a lot of different kinds of rice etc. and we also had wonderful home made freshly squeezed juice from the fruit itself! YUM YUM YUM!
