Try www.despegar.com which is a great one and also cheap for Latin America. I would recommend you go straight with the airline's web page, depending where you are you can always use Lan, Copa, Taca to go to Uruguay.

If you can find a good Travel Agent it's worth the extra $20-$30 bucks. They can help you if you run into most any problems and often they can get you some last minute or prior few days discounted air fares. I agree with the first Lady's recommendation for TACA Airlines but it might depend where your flight originates. You can get a domestic carrier and fly to LAX, Miami or Houston and then take your flight w/TACA. Just be sure to give yourself a 5-6 hr window between your arrival time and departure times. American, United and in particular Delta has had some great offers lately. I believe TACA is the dominant carrier in So. America plus they have a remarkable safety record. Check their website and you can join their *Distancia* Membership for free. Have a safe trip.
