I lived in Guate for ten years and travelled extensively throughout the country. The most common easily viewed lizard would be the iguanas in the coastal areas as they are quite plentiful. Other common lizards would be anoles and skinks.
My most vivid memory was trying to grab a blue tailed skink by the tail, only to have the tail come off, wiggling in my hand, while the rest of the creature ran out of site. The tail eventually grows back. |
