Which kind of holiday do you have in mind? ski, beach, trekking, culture?

Nacho Shackleton
Tourist usually have three destinies in Chile: Easter Island, San Pedro de Atacama , Patagonia (Torres del Paine, Carretera Austral).

I would add the Lake District with its lakes, volcanoes and parks and Chiloe Island. Chile's principal atractives are mostly in its landscapes, also good seafood and wine.

There is hardly anything to do in Santiago (and I am good at finding thing things to do!).

Valparaiso and Vina del Mar are very disappointing as well.

My favourite places are:
- Pucon
- Crossing of the Lakes (goes into Barilloche, Arg)
- Isla de Chiloe
- Parque Nacional Torres del Paine

The real treats in Chile are in the South in Patagonia.

Tourist go usually to Valparaiso and Viña del Mar, very close (60 miles) to Santiago. Valparaiso is an interesting city with lots of places to walk, if you like to see many houses hanging from the hills.
I think also that the south part of the country is beautifully, cities like Puerto Montt, Villarica, Pucón, etc. You should expect there rain and cold weather (well, not so cold as snow, but with rain the therm sensation is lower)

Santiago is great, Viña del Mar is nice, the south is great, the north is marvelous, the mountains are awesome, all accompanied by great seafood and wine! And if you get tired of all this, Buenos Aires is only one hour away! Enjoy Chile
