I liked bird watching in the "Cloud Forest" where we saw a quetzal. There were so many hummingbirds.
I also liked the hot spring next to a volcano that my wife climbed and bathed in a town called Fortuna.
I also liked Manuel Antonio Nat'l Park where the beaches were awesome & saw so very tiny monkeys.
Best of luck ... |

You'll enjoy it year round don't worry about the weather. Tourists are on the coasts.
If you need topics for a project a couple come to mind.
1. The legalized prostitution and/or the massive problem with homosexual pedophilia there.
2. The honor marriages that young girls are forced into with their rapists. Unicef.org |

i have been in CR, one of the most beautiful countries, I love specially Puerto Viejo, the Caribbean coast Costa Rica has only two seasons: The dry season from late November to mid April and the rainy season from May to mid November. Good luck, I am really jealous ;-( |

most tourist visit beaches, especially in the province guanacaste some of the most popular places are playa hermosa ,playa tamarindo, playa del coco....and any other beach around that area. and for the climate, costa rica doesn't have winter and summer, its just rainy season and non rainy. another Beautiful place is Monte verde and tortuguero, which are both incredible places for photographers, biologist and tourist to visit. (and about wat indepen"ant" said #2 is not true) |

According to ICT, national institute for tourism, the most visited places are Quepos, Manuel Antonio; Puerto Viejo, Limón; at some point Tamarndo, Guancaste; Jacó, Puntarenas.
There are lots of places that tourists go, but as locations those are the main spots.
There are two seasons, rainy and dry season. Rainy season starts in May, ends up in November. This used to be regular, but with climate change you never now what to expect. Also, because there are a number of micro climates I can´t tell you how the climate will be in each place, you can´t expect Manuel Antonio (beach) to have the same one as Monteverde (cloud forest). I hope this helped |

Malpais is an awesome surfer and small touristy town. Although most tourists tend to stick with the huge all-inclusives like Paradisus...
Costa Rica has two major climates...wet and dry. The dry season is during our "U.S." winter and is the main travel season. Prices go up and it's much easier to get around. During the wet season, 'our summer', everything is greener and much prettier, but it's hard to travel throughout much of the country. The roads are very rough and muddy...but the prices are cheaper, the crowds aren't there, and the get more of the true experience.
Costa Rica is awesome...if you're well prepared...buy all three of the major travel guides (frommers, fodors, lost something....) and get ready for the experience of a lifetime. Just be warned, life in Costa Rica is not the same hustle and bustle of the U.S. |
