If you can find it, please find any music by the amazing Venezuelan folk singer Lilia Vera. Here's a link to an album that contains some of her music:
http://www.cduniverse.com/sresult.asp?style=music&HT_SEARCH=XARTIST&HT_SEARCH_INFO=Guyanesa%2C+Serenata+%2F+Llanero%2C+Trio+%2F+Renya%2C+Fredy+%2F+Vera%2C+Lilia&cart=397853307&altsearch=yes
I was able to locate another album of hers online. She is one of the best singers of any genre that I have ever heard, but she also sings Venezuelan folk music, which should be of interest to you.

Hi!
The typical Venezuelan Music is JOROPO.
Is a rythm play in 3/4 and using the following insturments:
- Cuatro (4 stringued small guitar, Venezuela's typical insturment)
- Harp
- Maracas (balls with seeds inside that sound rithmically).

Venezuelan music varies within the country's regions. Here are a few examples:
- Gaita (From the Zulia State. It's typical of Christmas and it doesn't sound at all like the celtic gaita)
- Calipso (From the South. Bolivar State).
- Joropo, Tonadas (Typical of the central regions. Guárico, Barinas and Apure State).
- Tambores (Drums. Typical of the coast region. Specially the town Barlovento in Miranda State)
- Danza Goajita (Tipical of the Goajira region of Zulia State)
- Polo (Tipical of the Eastern states)
And more!!!

The Venezuelan "Musical State" is Lara State. Just in case!
(Capital city: Barquisimeto, the music capital of Venezuela)

Goodluck!
