I agree with joselin85 and JosÃ© P. Latin america is an amazing place. We have drugs.......that is true, but which country is free from that?.. USA being a country has much more drugs than all our countries together.
Latin american pple is happy pple.....warm......nice.......good hostesses.....friendly... and dont need so much to be like that.
Many european people are moving to south america bcoz of the nature. Here we still have natural forest...not pollution....clear sky, at night you still can see the stars. Besides that...you have wonderful beaches , as much in the Pacific ocean as in the Atlantic. Uruguay has wonderful white thin sands' beaches ,as Punta del Este, even has thermal watering places. small cities all over the coast , very calm ones. Has "estancias" also, something as the american ranchs, where you can spend days watching the way that the "gauchos" work. There are several touristics estancias. And the pple.........is as all the rest in latin america.......great ones.
Argentine has good natural places as PenÃnsula ValdÃ©z where if you come in summer u'll see the whales that arrive there by hundreds. Bariloche.......in winter with all the snow......Mendoza...capital of the best wine... and i can go on telling you places.....but.............you have to see this by yourself.
I dont know why, some pple from another countries still are seeing us as Indians dressed with feathers.. when we are as the pple from all over the world in our education and way of life.
Finally............anytime you want to come to visit any of our countries.....you'll be welcome, and be sure........you'll not regret about it

PS...By the way, i almost forget to tell you, that in a place from Uruguay called Flores, in middle of january it will be the greatest folk festival from Argentine and Uruguay.. and in Punta del Este you'll find several shows and parties all with latin artists...along of the 3 months of summer

Besides the countries, what differs latin america from other regions in the world are the people. Latin people are hot blooded, always happy, loud, party people.

We have the best beaches, the best climate (mostly hot year round), the best natural scenery, three of the five largest tropical rain forests in the world (Amazons in Brazil, Peten in Guatemala and Darien in Panama).

We have the best food (it varies from country to country) but its the same spicy food. We like to dance a lot. Salsa, merengue, reggaeton, mambo, are all music we hear in Latin America. We also hear pop, rock, alternative music, in both spanish and english.

Perhaps the biggest celebrations in latin america are for carnival. The carnival in Rio is the biggest in the world. Carnival is also celebrated in most of the countries of Latin America.

I think the biggest worldwide known latin american celebrities this days are: Salma Hayek, Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony, Shakira, Ricky Martin, Thalia, Paulina Rubio, Juanes, Andy Garcia, Daddy Yankee, Gloria Estefan, etc.

Ok dude, you are withe a correct man, I live in Colombia, is a beautiful country, delicious food, beautiful womens, you can find in the internet, magical places like cartagena, is an historical city with walls of the pre hispanic age, in my country you will se many carnivals, like "carnaval de barranquilla" or "feria de las flores " in Medellin, the capital of beatuy womens in the word.

You can find also in other countries like Peru, many indian artcrafts and indian places "machu picchu" is the place more visitied by tourist in the word is magic place, you also can see the list below

Cuscatlan - the Mayan name for El Salvador, meaning "land of jewels"

Alfombras - literally, rugs. On good Friday giant religious murals made from colored sawdust are created on the streets, then the church's processional goes through the streets, over the alfombras on their way to church. I don't know where this originated.
