Arenal, Corcovado (Osa), Tortuguero, Manuel Antonio (if you like animals at all it is very impressive!!!!), Monteverde, Nicoya Penninsula-especially Nosara, Montezuma and Mal Pais, The Supermercado for last minute shopping....hearts of palm, jalapenos and coffee!!!
If you only have time for one area don't miss Manuel Antonio! It is easy to get to and amazing. Just don't stay in Quepos or Jaco...it is a great waste of time! |

My favorite place to get away and experience more of a tranquil costa rica is Cahuita on the carribean side. The flavor of the area is distinctly afro carribean and it's a bit different from the rest. The price for a snorkeling trip is half here than what you pay eleswhere. It's gota beautiful beach and not so many tourists. |

Costa Rica is so expensive. If you can, go to Big Corn Island, off the coast of Nicaragua. We stayed there at a place called Casa Canada. Absolutely beautiful!!!!!!!And so much cheaper. |

Manuel Antonio is beautiful and full of wildlife. If you're going to Costa Rica, I HIGHLY reccommend you to go there.
Crocodile Safari Tours was fun. Saw crocs and lots of birds in the wild.
Rainforest Canopy Tour was "ok" we didn't see much but trees, but it was still nice. Probably the right place at the wrong time. I wouldn't do it again.
Zip-Line canopy tours are really fun!
Take a boat ride to Tortuga Island. It's beautiful, uninhibited island. Didn't see many fish while snorkeling, but the beach and scenery were beautiful.
Have fun, you won't run out of things to do!! |

Arenal Volcano, Monteverde, Manuel Antonio, Tortuguero (if the turtles are nesting) and the Osa Peninsula. |

All the answers are wonderful suggestions. I also suggest not missing taking the bus from place to place. You'll be amazed by the beauty of Costa Rica's nature as you travel to your next destination. |

All the places listed are very nice but many of those listed are VERY far from eachother with 3-6+ hours of driving time and even longer on buses. Take a look at all of them and then plan a trip where you can see a couple of places and relax at the same time. There is too much to see in one short trip. Can't miss things to do include canopy tours (zip lines), hot springs and lava watching, whitewater rafting, waterfall rapelling, learning to surf AND salsa dancing... |

I went to Costa Rica a few summers ago, and my two favorite things to do were line zipping and visiting the hot springs on the Arenal volcano. The lize zipping was so awesome, and a nice little hike up the mountain. The hot springs were beautiful, especially at night time. I cannot remember the names of the hot springs, but they were next to a spa/resort that was also very nice. Unfortunatly, did not get to stay at them. |

Ufff there are so many. If you love walking and exploring nature you have to go to Rincon de La Vieja Volcano. This place is blessed with rivers, waterfalls, azufrales, volcanic mud baths and a beautiful mountain view. The walk to this volcano is breath taking but it takes a lot of guts and 6 hours of walking....but you won't regret it....the best pictures of my life where taken there.
Manuel Antonio is a very hot spot. Also check the Sarapqui area around the La Selva Biological Station. This place is good for spotting the best in fauna and flora of CR.
Plan your trip well !!! Time goes fast in CR and you don't what it to end!! Is my favorite vacation place in the whole world!! Great food too! |
