What are the different regions of Nicaragua?

I'm not talking about the Lowlands and Highlands. I'm talking, like, their version of our states. Are there any? If so, could you send me a link to the website you found it on? Thanks a lot!

I believe there are 17 states or departments as they are called. they are usually named after the Largest town in department, such as Rivas,Leon, Granada,Masaya,Managua etc.go to nicaliving.com or nicaplaza.com,they will steer you in the right way check out the title Regions on header. The Atlantic is broken into just 2 regions, and is very different from the west or north, more English is spoken on the Carribean side

Jake
*Highlights for Nica are: Granada, Isla de Ometepe, San Juan Del Sur, Lake Nicaragua, Managua, Masaya, Leon, Esteli, Ocotal, Bluefields, Corn Islands

You mean political divisions, not regions. Our regions are the Pacific, Central and Caribbean.

We have 15 departments and 2 autonomous regions (which is the majority of the Caribbean coast of Nicaragua). A department is the equivalent to a state in the U.S. (exp. California (a U.S. state) and Madriz (a Nicaraguan department). Each department is also subdivided into 153 municipios (municipalities)

The 15 departments are Boaco, Carazo, Chinandega, Chontales, Estel铆, Granada, Jinotega, Le贸n, Madriz, Managua, Masaya, Matagalpa, Nueva Segovia, Rivas and Rio San Juan. The two autonomous regions are: Regi贸n Aut贸noma del Atl谩ntico Norte (RAAN) and Regi贸n Aut贸noma del Atl谩ntico Sur (RAAS).
