Obama is a socialist
Choco is very dangerous right now. Any of the jungle areas that join Ecuador and/ or Venezuela is dangerous right now. Huila and surrounding areas is dangerous. Buenaventura is a dangerous place. Bogota, Medellin, Baranquilla, Santa Marta, Cartagena, Villavicencio are pretty safe.EDIT: for the person below me. Move out of you moms basement.

The most dangerous places in Colombia are the small towns near or located in the rain forest like for example Mitú, a town that is far from everything, it is completely controlled by Las Farc. Metropolitan areas like Bogotá, Medellin, Cartagena are just as safe as any other Latinoamerican city.

I live in Colombia, the capital, and it is very safe as well as big cities. The Amazon is okay in the turist places along the borders with Brazil and Peru, and it is lovely!!!! Avoid Choco and maybe the llanos orientales at the moment, but if you are thinking of coming, you defenitly should. It is a great place.
