If you want to know "how to develop our country", I would give you the top 6 things that what I would do if I were the president of that country, and why I would do it.
1. Build more schools and hire competent teachers: The only way forward for an economy is by having an intelligent workforce, the people of a country are it's best resource, you can have huge resources in your country, but if you do not have the right people to use them responsably and effictively they are useless.
2. Fight corruption: The only way to avoid government and private waste is to eliminate corruption, every dollar wasted/stolen/misderected/bribed in one less dollar available for future investment and future growth.
3. Build an efficent road and comunications infrastructure: Roads are one of the really few democratic resources of a country, everybody uses them and everybody gets the same benefit from them. If you a good road and communication network then your economy can move at a faster pace.
4. Promote Savings and Penalize Luxurios Consumption: By doing this you increase your capital, and avoid unnecesary debt.
5. Promote Free Entreprise: One of the most succesful economic drivers is the notion of profit, people will work harder if they know they can get the rewards for doing it, it does matter if it is in the short or long run, the important thing is that hard work is compensated.
6. Protect the environment: If you deplete all your resources in one generation, you will be poor the next, no matter how rich you are right know. We are only stewards of our current resources, our responsability is to make responsible use of them and avoid waste so as to ensure that our children can do the same for their children.
There you go, if you do this you will be the leader of a developed nation!
But as we know from real life... is not that easy, countries and people sometimes can not see paste their greed, selfishness and lack of respect for their fellow human beings. |
