Hi Jenny,

The three biggest cities (in order of size) are: Guayaquil, Quito and Cuenca. Guayaquil is actually bigger than the capital, Quito, and is the de facto commercial capital as well. Cuenca acts as a cultural counterweight to Quito and has a large university and cultural sector. Quito, as well as being the capital, is also important commercially and industrially.

Hope this helps,

Dan

This is a bad way to do a school report. If you want to be lazy go to Wikipedia!

Quito - capital
Otavalo - beautiful markets and lots of tourism
thats all i got

Quito is the capital - it's important as it is the political centre, as well as a tourism centre.

Guayaquil is the largest city - it's a major port and centre of industry.

Cuenca is the third most important city. It's an important university town, and has a lively cultural scene.

Well, if you want to do your homework, you can actually google "Major cities of Ecuador" and you'll find it. And the reason they are important is mostly that they are most important for the citizens of Ecuador, and for little kids who are in 5'th grade and need to do their homework, to realize that they're not the center of the universe, and that there's so many more people in the world than what they know as their "world"... Seriously, what kind of question is this? Wikipedia has all your answers.

The three biggest cities are Quito, Guayaquil, and Cuenca. You should definitely look them up because they are all very unique and interesting places.
