What can ten pesos buy in Guatemala?

I sponsor a child in Guatemala. I want to give her a Christmas gift. I know 10 Pesos is roughly 1 american dollar, but what exactly can they buy with this much?

We don't have pesos in Guatemala. We have Quetzales, pesos are used in Mexico.

Q.10.00 could buy her lunch (a coke and a bag of tortillas). The excahege rate right now is $1 = Q.7.50. Most of the people who live in poor areas like her sruvive with $2 a day.

I live in Guatemala if you give me her address I can send her some cloth and food. I work for a US company that represents LIZ CLAIBORNE, POLO RLALPH LAUREN and HANES in CEntral America, so I can get some free clothes for her and her family and send it on your behalf.

Yay Christmas is near!!!
They have Quetzales not pesos and it is 7.50 Quetzales per dollar right now. It could buy about 4 or 5 fruits or a pound or two of vegetables. It could buy her a pencil and an eraser with enough left over to get an ice cream. She can buy about 3 eggs.
I go to Guatemala every Easter and the dollar goes a long way.
Handing a child in a poor area Q.10.00 would make them happy for a couple of days.
If her mother takes it then it will buy some food for the family.

I don't think they use PESOS in Guatemala anymore.

They use cents. And Quetzals.

See the link.
