Although Argentina claims the Falkland Islands (they call them the Malvinas Islands), and attempted to take them over about 30 years ago, Britain owns and controls this strategic island chain.

The UK although Argentina still believes it is theres and protest about it to this day. So it depends on who you ask.

The United Kingdom.
I'm from Argentina and I think that the Islands (we call them Islas Malvinas) have to be ours, they are closer to Argentina.

En mi país todos los que somos verdaderamente argentinos sabemos que las Malvinas fueron, son y serán siempre argentinas, sin importar qué bandera ocupe el territorio.
Las Malvinas son Argentinas

The United Kingdom...it's still our's, despite Argentina's best efforts to change the situation.
