Totally has to be Brazil. It has the Amazon, exotic beaches, and plush mountains. It has everything!!

I have a friend from Brazil and she said its perfectly safe and it has both the city life and the nature life so there is lots of tourism...I hope to go someday :)

Here are some pictures http://www.planetware.com/pictures/brazil-bra.htm

It depends. Brazil has a completely different culture from the rest of Latin America. So does Argentina, which has a whole lot of non-mixed descendants of Europeans, giving it a more Euro vibe. Chile is somewhat similar to that. Peru and Ecuador have the most indigenous culture. Can't beat Peru if you're into archaeological stuff (Machu Picchu!) Venezuela has its own natural beauty. So does Colombia. Etc. "Best" depends on your preferences beyond "safe" and touristic, because most South American countries aren't perfectly safe, but safe enough, and just about all of them are suited well for tourists, so those two requirements don't really narrow the list.

Break from the norm. Head to Cololmbia. Things are different, and so are its people.

...and since there aren't swarmns of tourists, you'll always have enough space on the beach.

Argentina is the go. It has much lower crime rate than Brazil or columbia and the mountains are spectacular. There is some beautiful landscapes in both the Patagonian regions and Tierra Del Fuago
