Mainly the people. I have found a bunch of smart, beautiful, happy, caring, warm friends in the region.
But I also like, the beauty and rhythm of Buenos Aires, the peace and energy of Machu Pichu, the joy of Rio de Janeiro beaches, the Andes, a sunset sailing the Titicaca, the awesome power of the Amazon, the music (all of it, samba, tango, cumbia, etc), the food, the drinks, the fruits, the animals, etc.
Man, I am way overdue for another trip down there. |

I can't speak for all of South America because I've only been to Brazil. I also have friends from Colombia. I think that they value family and friends a lot more than we do in the United States. Everything in daily life revolves around visiting people. I really like this. Also, I think that music and dance have a stronger presence in social life than they do in the U.S. Sensuality is more acceptable (within certain limits, obviously), and the beauty of women and the strength of men are really valued in daily conversation. This show of the differences between men and women really made me feel more comfortable as a woman. These are just my experiences though.... |
