I chew gum when I fly. My jaw and ears use to kill me when I flew then my doc told me to try the gum chewing and IT worked great!!

There is a little device that looks like an ear plug. It's sold in the drug stores, walmart ,etc. I used them when I use to have this problem. They are designed for one trip and they help the pressure in your head that makes you ears screw up. That's the best way I can describe them, but they worked for me and they weren't very expensive.

If it gets really bad and painful and you want an immediate solution, this is it: take a deep breath and close your nose with two fingers and keep your mouth closed and pretend to exhale - your ears will pop and/or you will feel and hear the air that has forced its way inside of your ears (which is what is causing the discomfort or pain) come out. This resolves the problem instantly and you can enjoy your flight.

For babies and small children give them a baby bottle. The sucking motion works. Adults and older children can try a lollipop or just do the motion.

Another option is to give them water and of course this works for older children and adults.

Chewing gum, or if there isn't any; open and close your jaw.

well, what i do is chew gum. Before i get on the planean when i'm at my house, i alwayz get a q-tip an use oxygen peroxide or alcohol and clean my ears out. it helps for me when i have very bad pains. hope that helps.

To prevent ear ache when you are flying is just use headphone to put into your ears.even the headphone of your cellphone, its okey too....

I always use a nasal spray just before take-off (just a regular one from the chemist for cold and flu). I also have a litte bottle of pure peppermint oil that I sprinkle on a tissue and hold over my nose to inhale when the plane starts to descend.
It really helped me with my ears and sinus pain, as well as stopping the motion sickness.
