Mexico and Colombia are far apart so I cant figure a trip where you can easily hop from one to the other. I would avoid Mexico city due to the crime rate nowadays. Colombia has a problem with kidnapping and drug guerrillas at the momento although it's a beautiful country to visit. I would go to Mexico provinces (if you want to go to Mexico) but if I can chose I would go to Argentina, Chile, Peru. Venezuela has an advisory for all americans due the problems with president Chavez. |

I am going to be Bias.....and I have been to both Countries but my home country Colombia is just a paradise in its own right....
We have the most diverse people, flora, fauna and geography than any part of Latin America....
There are so many things to see and do..
I just wish it was a more safer country to travel around with ...so many people are missing out on the pure beauty of this country.....
I am not putting down Mexico at all.....because I believe and being a extensive traveler ...every country brings its Uniqueness to my travel experience...
But Like I said...I am proud Colombian and invite people to visit our Country

Ok Colombia is not that close to Mexico. Central america is separating the two.
I have been to Mexico and it was wonderful but I would really recomend Colombia. Just as the other person said it is very diverse. You can go to the mountains or beaches or rainforests. You can do the big city thing or enjoy the countryside.

For one, take out a map and locate Colombia, and then locate Mexico and see how far apart they are. The distances here are much greater than in Europe.
Colombia is beautiful, and has lots of diversity in a short distance. The roads aren't the best, partly because of the Geography, really high mountains and low valleys.
The roads in Mexico are much better than in Colombia, and Mexico also has many more tourists. |

You should also consider Guatemala, is right above Mexico.... trust me the experience is worth it!
