Chica (la original)
Our flag has been modified through out the years but it has always had three color bands. The yellow band represents the richness of our soil, the blue is the ocean that separates us from Spain and red for the blood shed by our founding fathers.

Our current flags has 8 stars that represents the original provinces. The coat of arms was modified to include a horse looks that to the left side to represent the orientation of the new government.

The Venezuelan flag is based on one flown by independence fighters fighting against Spanish colonial rule. At that time the yellow represented the gold of the Americas, blue stood for the Atlantic Ocean which separated the new Americas from the bloody old world of Europe and Spain which is signified by red. A modern but similar meaning behind the Venezuelan flag states that the yellow represents new opportunities, the red symbolizes Spain, and the blue stands for the Atlantic Ocean, which separates the two. The seven stars represent the seven provinces that existed at the time of Venezuelan independence.

Ok, I'll make it short for you using the new flag and coat of arms (as of 2006):

FLAG: 3 equal horizontal stripes, 3 colors, 8 stars.

Yellow: wealth of the land.
Blue: the great ocean.
Red: courage and blood of the freedom fighters.
8 stars: *sigh* they used to be 7 stars representing the 7 provinces that declared the independence of Venezuela in 1811. These are Barcelona, Barinas, Caracas, Cumana, Margarita, Merida and Trujillo. The 8th star represents Guayana, which was liberated on the same year but 'not included' at the time. This star was incorporated in 2006.

COAT OF ARMS: same colors as the flag.
Up-left (red with wheat grass): represents the 20 states at the time and the wealth of the nation.
Up-right (yellow with 2 swords and 3 lances with Vzla flags): represents the triumph in the war.
Down-middle (blue with a white horse): represents independence and freedom.

Top of the shield (2 cornucopias): represents more wealth.
Left of the shield (olive branch), right of the shield (a palm): both tied by a Venezuela-flag-band. Represents.... well, the flag itself.

The band has some writing it. If I still remember:
April 19, 1810 which is the independence day...
February 20, 1859 which is the date of the federal war...
and at the bottom it says: REPUBLICA BOLIVARIANA DE VENEZUELA.

Is it good?
