The City on a Mountain top called Maccu Picchu is one of the 7 modern wonders. Potato is also originated from Peru and here we have as many as 5000 different types! We also invented a hat that covers your ears, the CHULLO

Not so known facts:

Ancient pre-inka people in Paracas culture, practiced cranial surgery and replaced broken bone with metal plates, this is called craneana trepanation

Ancient peruvians learned how to adapt vegetables to the coldnes of high altitude by digging concentric circles each smaller than the one on top, so they started cropping on the downermost circle wich had the highest temperature and once it was adapted they would seed it to the next level and so forth until they generated a brand that was perfectly adapted to the andes mountains:

Today Peru is mostly famous for it's cuisine! Competing with Italians, French, Thai, Mexican and Spanish

The potato was developed in Peru.

Tons of gold and silver were carried off by the Spanish and the Quecha
Indians (ruled by the Incas) were exploited and killed off by the Spanish.

There are remarkable ruins from the precolonial days: Cuzco and especially Manchu Picchu.

Peru is mostly famous for the citadel call Machu Pichu which was rediscovered by Hiram Bingham in the early 1900's. Machu Pichu is in the traditional Quechua language Machu is "old" and Pichu is "young".The famous mountian usually seen in the pictures of Machu Pichu is "Wayna Pichu" or young mountain.
Peru is also famous for the city called Cuzco, there you will find monolithic stone work to this day no one can explain how these stones were moved into place, these stones are fitted together you cannot fit a dime into the cracks. Cuzco in Quechua means "navel" as the ancient Incans thought the city of Cuzco to be the middle of the empire.Cuzco is where the ancient ceremony called "Inti Raymi" or the festival of the sun is held, which falls on the summer equinox in June.
Peru is also where Francisco invaded with around 67 Spainards and their horses , the first Incan ruler was taken captive in Cajamarca this was in 1532.
Some famous Pre Colombian cultures are the Chancay, Ica, Moche, and the Vicus, these were civilations that existed in the prehistorical time periods in Peruvian history, these cultures did not have a written history but portrayed their everyday life in ceramics.
