well im panamanian but i live in the states...the typical family consists of a mom dad kids and grandparents. the grandparents help raise the children in the house so they can have good moral panamanian values.we raise our children to be strong and independent but to know that family always comes first above all. we also base our culture around food, music and tradition. most panamanians are darker in complexion because they are next to the carribean so they have alot of west indian culture and roots but just like most other cultures we come in any shape, shade and size.... if you have ever seen the tv show Fresh Prince of Bel-Air the younger daughter "Ashley" real name Tatiyana Ali she is panamanian. there are also native indians that still live in the out skirts of the cities in panama.
well i hope i helped you out if you have anymore questions email me at xxlava060703xx@yahoo.com |

We come from many places, I bet you‘ve heard Panama is the crossroad of the world. There is a big community of Chinese, Indian, Italian, French, American, Jews, black people from the Antilles, native Indians, Spaniards, Greeks... My father‘s family come from Cuba, and they come from Spain... my mother“s family come from Spain also, but I bet there is some black in my blood, because my hair is very curly... My husband‘s family also come from other countries... and that is what happens with most Panamanians. |

Just like a regular family in the US. In some cases grandparents live with one of their son's or daughter's family, but that is not so common now.
Urban families tend to be small now a days, and those that live in rural areas tend to have bigger families.
People that live in cities are professionals, while those that live in rural areas work in farming, grazing cattle, mining, etc.
Hope that helps. |
