Costa Rica is well known for being home of a great variety of plants and animals. Even when it is a small country it has 5% of the world's biodiversity and more than 20% of our land is protected in national parks that include beautiful beaches, majestic volcanoes and of course the rainforest.
Costa Rica is also one of the best coffee producers around the world. Big companies like Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks import coffee from Costa Rica.
What else can I tell you?? Costa Rica was the first country that abolish its army and we are very proud of it! In fact, our current president won Nobel prize several years ago.
I have to mention Franklin Chang, he was the first Costa Rican and latin american astronaut to travel in space. He completed 7 missions in space and now he has his own company in Costa Rica where he specializes in plasma rockets.
In Costa Rica people are usually very friendly and outgoing, especially with tourists. There is also a very popular expression called "pura vida". Literal translation would be "pure life" but for us means being fine. If I ask somebody "como estas?" I will get a "pura vida" as an answer.
Costa Rican people are also known as Ticos.
Ok, I think these are some of the most important things about my country. Hope it helps you!

It depends on where you are in Costa Rica. Some areas are known for their pineapple and bananas, others for fishing and sea food. Some mountainous regions are covered with dairies, and others are well know for their tourist towns. |

I was going to say it's the most Americanized Central American country, but Julia's answer is nicer. |
