What is hurricane season for Costa Rica and for the Hawaiian Islands?

Want to make vacation plans.

?
Hurricanes are relatively rare events in the Hawaiian Islands. Since 1950 five hurricanes or tropical storms have caused serious damage in Hawaii. Hurricane Nina (1957) produced record winds in Honolulu. Hurricane Dot (1959) caused damage to Kauai. Hurricane Estelle (1986) produced very high surf on Hawaii and Maui and floods on Oahu. Kauai also received the brunt of Hurricane Iwa, which struck on 23 November 1982. The destructive force of hurricanes in Hawaii was powerfully demonstrated on 11 September 1992 when Hurricane Iniki struck the island of Kauai.
Since then we haven't had any hurricanes.

We don't receive hurricanes here but sometimes, we do get the tail end or spin off resulting in rain and wind. Most days during this time consist of afternoon rain then clearing. (Northern area) The further south you go the more rain you will receive.

In my opinion our best time of year for vacationers is dec. - feb. because rain is very rare and it is very sunny. I love the green season myself because the rain makes the temps dip at night and all the plants are so green. tocar.elcielo is right about the hurricanes. Last year we just got some extra rain and winds when Nicaragua was getting hit somewhat.

Costa Rica and Panama don't get hurricanes but can sometimes get heavy rains as a result of hurricances further north-- New York City gets more. They are both affected by the Atlantic hurricane season (June-November)more than the Pacific one.

Pastelero
The same as in the U.S. June to November however the likelihood of being hit by a hurricane is small plus the fact that C.R. is very mountainous so the central valley is protected from the destructive winds not so from the rain the last hurricane to come close to C.R. was in 1987 named Juanna I think but please do come and enjoy our country, hurricane chances are vanishingly small to strike C.R.

We don't have a hurricane season. In fact, there have been very few hurricanes that touched Costa Rica. I only remember one in my whole life. It landed in Ciudad Neilly, a remote place.
During hurricane season in the Caribbean, it rains a lot in Costa Rica, though. The rainy season goes from May to November, October being the rainiest month. But it rains in the afternoon. Usually mornings are sunny. Good luck with your vacation plans!
