I'm Peruvian but I've been in Chile several times. It's an incredible country; always clean and nice. People are also nice and friendly. Although some tend to say that you should be careful and not bring valuable objects or too much cash, I've always felt comfortable and safe in Chile. My grandpa used to take us for a ride in Santiago and Valparaiso during our summer vacations and we never had a problem.
I believe most Chileans are well-off and well-educated people so it should be quiet and relaxing over there.
