What is the best country to visit in South America? |
I'm flying into Santiago, Chile. I wanted to check out Chile for a while, then make my way over to Buenos Aires, where I would spend the majority of my three month trip, before visiting Venezuela, Colombia and Peru.
I realised that this won't be financially viable... so need to choose between Buenos Aires + Chile or visiting Northern South America only.
Based on experience, what do you recommend?
Thanks in advance |

If you wanna go to cold places, you can visit chile and argentina, these countries are beautiful, and people looks like europeans. if you want to visit warmer places you can visit venezuela, colombia and brazil, these countries have beaches, good meal, and nice people. |

Each country of South America has its own beautiful landscapes, but Chile is the most peculiar, you have the heat in the north with the Atacama Desert, the driest place in the world with beautiful beaches and mystical places; the mediterranean climate in the center of the country with a lot of Chilean costumes, in cities like Viña del Mar, Valparaiso, Santa Cruz, etc, also you can go to ski at Valle Nevado near Santiago, and also you can go to the south of the country, where you'll find green forests, mountains, rivers, peace and calm and in the extreme south you'll fiords, beautiful islands, glaciars, etc etc etc
If you go to Chile, you won't regret |

I can tell you, that Argentine is a wonderful place to find out the real important things in life. Of course, these are my experiences and in general you can get them from everywhere... but I found my inner-bond to these people and the beautiful countryside. |

Ecuador is a agreat option for the northern part of the Continent. You will definitely save on airfare. Quito is a great modern capital which also has its old colonial part of the city. Ecuador has the Amazon as well as beach locations and is very well known for its eco-tourism. So if you area a nature lover, then it is a great choice as well.
We send many students to learn Spanish in Buenos Aires at: http://www.spanishabroad.com/baires.htm
Buenos Aires is a place where you can spend many months but the airfare will be a bit more. The city has over 10 Million people and is compared to New York but with a European atmosphere.
You can't go wrong with your choice, but I would pick Ecuador if you are more interested in natural settings and Buenos Aires if you want a hugh city with more culture and history. |
