Depends on what you're looking for.

You must eat at the Garota de Ipanema and Porcao.

Ipanema Beach is the best in the city, but if you have the chance to get out of the city to some more secluded beaches it's worth it.

If it's sunny, don't delay! Have a taxi driver take you to both Christo Redempto (Christ Statue) and Pau d Acur (Sugarloaf). You can eat at the restaurant near Sugarloaf. You'll be kicking yourself if you don't go, and it's cloudy for the rest of the trip.

Santa Teresa and Lapa are both interesting places to walk around and eat in. I suggest buying the book Rio for Partiers (even if you're not planning on a big party). It will show you the non-touristy places to go and experience the true Rio without having to worry about safety.

Stay away from Distoteca Help in Copacabana....unless you're looking for women with a more professional edge...it's not exactly a family place. I found out the hard way.

Just a coulple of tips, try to be simple when you go there, os cariocas know a tourist form miles... don't wear flashy stuff nor gold. Try to blend in, talk with the people and learn the language. You will surely LOVE RIO and Brasil... you will want to come back!!
Ah!! this is for the lady that says tha Rio is full of theives: SO IS THE REST OF THE WORLD!!!

Enjoy Rio, I'll be there in... 2 months!!!

BYE!!

if you go there watch you wallet never leave it. specially if your on the beach.
people bury it under sand and come back for it later..

Ipanema beach, that's where all the beauties hang out.You need a magnifying glass to see their bikinis.

Hi!

The road out!!

Honestly - don't go there thinking you're gonna have a geat time - the place is full of muggers and thieves.
